Module 1 – Introduction to SASB

The first module of this course deals with explaining the role and importance of the Sustainability Accounting Standards Board (SASB). The role of SASB in the ESG ecosystem is explained, as well as what specific needs of investors it covers. The Global reach of SASB is also presented, along with the important benefits of using SASB’s Standards.

Module 2 – SASB Standards and Sustainability Reporting

The second module of this course explains how the SASB Standards are created, as well as the key mechanisms of SASB that ensure relevance and credibility of the Standards. Examples of various sectoral standards are presented as well in order to understand the structure of the Standards of each sector.

Module 3 – Climate Change, the TCFD and Scenario Analysis

The third module of this course presents the present status relating to climate change as well as the need for understanding the risks and opportunities that relate to climate change. The importance of developing and using scenario analysis is discussed, along the typical categories of climate-related risks and opportunities. Key tools and data sources are also described.

Module 4 – TCFD Reporting

The fourth module of this course presents the link between SASB and TCFD, as well as the key recommendations of the TCFD with respect to risks, opportunities, financial impacts, scenario analysis and climate-related issues in order to understand what organizations need to consider if they wish to report.

Module 5 – Case Studies and Good Practices

The fifth module of this course discusses the present status, as described in the 2019 TCFD Status report. It then proceeds to present case studies and best practices in terms of governance, metrics and targets, as well as from the banking sector, the energy sector and the food sector.
